Dave Ramsey had a recent article titled, "Are You Losing Money By Overlooking These 9 Details?" Read his full article here.
At Union Colony Insurance, we wanted to look into some of these potential detail overlooks and see what we could find. We found that not only should you double check everyday receipts for small mistakes that could cost you money over the long haul, but also check them for the ridiculous and entertaining.
1. Shopping Receipts
Dave Ramsey suggests reading your receipt before heading out those automatic, sliding glass doors.
A man from the United Kingdom should have done just that as he found a couple days later that his loaf of bread cost him £450! That would be $737 in America!

2. Medical Bills
Medical bills sometimes can be hard to explain. Dave Ramsey suggests that even if tough to decipher, if there is a red flag coming up as you are reading, ask them about it.
Here is an unpredictable medical bill expense. $83,341 for Rattle Snake anti-venom treatment with a total bill of over $150,000! He shouldn't have been trying to take that selfie with the snake in the first place!

3. Restaurant Tabs
Waiters can be busy people taking care of a lot of people. Make sure you slow down and double check they didn't charge you for something you didn't order.
But sometimes check for an unexpected gem on your receipt as in the case of a woman receiving a "Mother-To-Be" promo from Red Robin!

4. Extended Warranties
Dave Ramsey suggests to check your appliance receipts for extended warranties. What are the chances you will be buying a brand-new appliance after you just bought one? Almost none. They are usually not worth the money.
But if you come across a man named Shane at Wal-Mart, he may try to sell you an extended warranty on your fried chicken!

Lastly, Dave Ramsey suggests that you should be double checking your insurance coverage every year. It doesn't hurt to ask!
